As part of my efforts to be transparent in this day and age, I'm publishing this usage policy for myself and for you, dear reader. This is to both let you know what you can expect from me, and gives me guardrails for myself.
I use A.I. tech for the following:
- proofreading posts for typos;
- identifying logical gaps in my arguments;
- generating code for illustrative animations (e.g. like this one).
I do NOT use A.I. for any of the following:
- coming up with ideas for posts;
- drafting or writing the post;
- generating images.
In short, the arguments are mine, the words are mine, the pictures are real (or edited by myself), while the editing is mostly mine and supplemented by a dear friend, but can be further supplemented by A.I. tools. The animation code is tedious to write and often outside my wheelhouse anyway.
You can tell by the sheer number of typos on this blog that the A.I. (and I) have a long way to go.
All in all, this blog is and will remain mine, written by hand in BBEdit using my shitty blog engine from 2012. I still use Siri to edit the posts and now I have yet another tool in my toolbox.
